    Sawai Madhopur is a city in Rajasthan. This city was planned and built by Sawai Madho Singh, the Maharaja of Jaipur during 1750 – 1768 AD which is named after him. The guavas of this place are very famous and are affectionately called as Madhopur guavas. The major tourist attractions of the place are as follows. First is the Ranthambore National Park which is located 11 km from the main city. It is one the biggest national parks of India and is a Tiger Reserve under the Project Tiger.

    Second is the Ranthambore Fort which is of historical importance to the place. This fort is enclosed by the Aravali and the Vindhya Ranges. The third tourist spot is the Rajiv Gandhi Regional Museum of Natural History. It was founded by Shri M. H. Ansari in the year 2007. The Trinetra Ganesh Temple, the Kala-Guara Bhairwa Temple and the Chamatkaarji Temple are other tourist destinations in Sawai Madhopur.

    1) Ganesh Temple: It is one of the major attractions of Sawai Madhopur, here lot many people come every year from every corner of the country in order to seek the blessings of Lord Ganesha for happiness and prosperity. There is one very interesting aspect associated with the temple that is mail which is sent to Lord Ganesha consisting mainly of wedding invitations.

    2) Kala Guara Bhairawa Temple: On the right side of the city gate touching the heights of mountains lies a ‘Tantrik’ of Bhairava. Big elephants with raised tusks on its gate. Main attractions are the Kala-Gaura Bhairvas dressedin ‘Tamasi’ and ‘Rajsi’ styles respectively.

    3) Chamatkarji Temple: This temple is situated on the way to Madhopur city on the main road railway station. The temple is popular for many miracles. Even the name of temple Chamatkarji also means the diety who performs miracles. On the day of Sharad Poornimar, a fair is held here.
